Our cellar door is open 7 days 10am -4pm with light snacks available from 11.30am. Walk-ins only. 

Our restaurant is open Thursday – Monday for lunch, 11.30am -3pm. Please book a table below and also see and enquire about our group and private dining options .

If you wish to pop up for a snack and glass of wine we take walk ins.  The drive from Christchurch airport is 40 minutes with two turns, enjoy the ride.  Transport options are here.

Tastings

Our Cellar Door is open for tastings, a glass of wine and snacks 10am – 4pm, 7 days a week.  Walk ins welcome for up to 4 people.  For group tastings of 5 or more please call to book at 03314 6085 or  email us.

Cellar Door tasting –   Taste five Black Estate current release wines in our cellar door.  $25

Seated tasting  – 3 x 50 m pours which can be enjoyed with food.  $35 

Private tours at Netherwood

You can look behind the scenes and book a winery tour and tasting at our Netherwood vineyard, 5km north of our restaurant. Meet with Pen, Nicholas or one of our winery assistants who will share our farming philosophy, show you around our winery and pour 5 single vineyard wines with a light snack. Hosted at 11am for 1 -1 1.5 hours (so you have time for lunch!).

$125 per person. Please book below and when you book please note if you would like to book a table for lunch at 1245 pm at our restaurant, 5 minutes down the road.

Stay

Black Estate B & B

Our beautiful B & B is located on our biodynamic Home vineyard, a studio room on the ground floor of our architecturally designed building. The views are vast, expanding from the garden and vineyard to the Southern Alps. You can stay any night or the week. A continental breakfast is included in your room and we offer a takeaway menu for light dinners.

Staying here allows you to experience all the life on our Home vineyard. You may see our staff in the vineyard, the odd tractor, hares and hawkes and the nature around our vines. The B & B is on the Waipara Valley Vineyard Trail.

Netherwood Winery Room

Netherwood is our small picturesque vineyard 5km north of our restaurant.

The Netherwood Winery Room is a perfect space for private meetings and workshops. The room is adjacent to our winery, quiet and completely private. 

Facilities

For a private meeting or workshop, you can hire this venue for a full or half day. Facilities include spacious tables and comfortable chairs, TV monitor, wifi and whiteboard, loos.

You can arrange for tea & coffee, breakfast or morning tea. A light lunch can be brought to the meeting or you can pop down to our Two Hatted restaurant for a change of scenery.

You can also book a winery tour and or tasting for an insight into our biodynamic farm and winemaking.

Events

For group events at Black Estate, we have the option to hire part or all of our restaurant for 20 -65 people seated, (or 90 as a party).  Our chefs will be happy to cook you a 3 - 4 course menu, shared feasting style for a friendly and delicious afternoon or evening party. Our staff will liaise with you as you plan your event, and look after all your guests' needs on the evening.  

We can also host small private events at our Netherwood Winery Room as mentioned above.
